![]() To add more punch and growl, just dial the bridge pup in to suit your taste. My personal favorite is the neck pick up dailed all the way up while the bridge pup is down and the tone knob is on 7-10. It is way lighter than it looks so there's no strain on the back. Great feel on the neckand the body has a natural place for your thumb in addition to the pick ups and strings. ![]() I own a Rickenbacker 4003, Reverend Rumblefish, Wasburn AB20 and a G & L ASAT Tom Hamilton signature model. What an incredible bass guitar! If you play Rock music then you need to add this Thunderbird to your collection. I HIGHLY recommend this bass for just about anyone. Epiphone has really stepped up their game on this one. It's made of the same wood, has the same electronics and hardware it's just made in Indonesia. This bass is built to the same specs as a Gibson. Really makes you feel like you're getting a deal for the price. ![]() Solid too, the thing is built like a tank. I was floored when I took it out of the box the pictures DO NOT do it justice! I watched a bunch of YouTube reviews and everyone was crazy about the alpine white, but the classic sunburst is where it's at! You really get a good look of the wood grain and can see the ply's in the neck. But the one thing that really stands out about this bass is the quality. If variety is what you're looking for I would suggest checking out the active version. There's not a ton of variety the tone nob does alter the tone but not drastically. The Gibson pickups are amazing – really rich, clear, chunky tone which makes it perfect for rock. I like having the strap peg on the neck joint, there's no neck dive that I found (using a 3" leather strap though), and you just feel 10 feet tall holding it! You command the stage while holding this thing! The tone is great too. I'm also quite the fat guy and with my huge gut it's really easy to reach and hangs naturally on you. The wing that comes up on the top-back is a great place to rest your arm when picking, so you really get some good wrist action. This bass did NOT disappoint! Seriously though, I was a bit hesitant on comfort with the shape of the bass is a bit more unconventional, but it's actually a lot more comfortable than I thought. optional hard case with black vinyl exterior, gray plush interior and chrome hardware. hats control knobs with chrome metal inserts. neck volume, bridge volume and master tone controls. classic style 3-point adjustable flush-mount. rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays 20. mahogany body wings 7-ply mahogany/walnut neck. the sound of the thunderbird iv was as cutting edge as its design and now the thunderbird classic-iv pro returns with all of epiphones first class quality and a lifetime guarantee, but without the hassles of owning (or hiding) a vintage instrument. the thunderbird iv was one of the most radical designs to come out of the gibson and epiphone kalamazoo factory in the early 60s, thanks to legendary automotive designer ray dietrich, who was asked to put a new twist on solid body guitars and basses. now, epiphone takes all the vintage mojo of the original thunderbird iv and sends it flying into the future with gibson tb plus humbuckers with ceramic magnets and all the birds original styling and features intact. turn on your radio and you'll hear a thunderbird bass. for almost five decades, the thunderbird has powered artists as varied as nikki sixx, the who, kings of leon, cheap trick, lynyrd skynyrd, steely dan and the silversun pickups. The thunderbird iv was first introduced in 1963 and instantly became one of rocks most recognizable bass guitar designs. Some other basses in the price range are more tonally diverse, but this bass will get the job done for most types of Rock. The value of the Goth Thunderbird by Epiphone is excellent. For example, the screws used for the pickups and pickguard both strip and rust easily. ![]() However, the metal hardware is noticeably cheap on this bass. I didn't find any manufacturer's imperfections on the bass. I haven't had a problem with the finish scratching or chipping off. The quality is better that expected for the price range. The 3-point bridge isn't the worst bridge, but it does make setting-up more time consuming. The Thunderbird Plus pickups allow for some deep bass but lack the punch that some bassists desire. For those who seek a more tonally diverse bass guitar within the same price range, I would reccomend seeking a differnet pickup configuration. Its classic stylings and solid feel are well worth the money if you're looking for a deep, Rock and Roll-type bass. I've been using this bass for almost a year now and it has definetly proven its worth. ![]()
